Funding For Early Childhood Development Centres

Early Childhood Development Centre (Crèches) is a facility that provides learning and support appropriate to the child's developmental age and stage.

Admission To An Old Age Home

This service is for older people who need 24-hour care in a state funded old age home.

HIV/AIDS Services (Home Based/ Community Based Care)

Home-based community based care (HBCBC)
The Department provides funding and support to organizations that offer a range of services to individuals and families infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. These organizations provide Home-based/Community-based care services to ensure that the basic needs of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHAs) are met.

Foster Care

Foster Care is the placement of a child in the care of a person who is not the parent or guardian of the child as a result of: An order of a children's court; or Transfer of the child in alternative care.

Admission To Children's Home

A Children’s home is a registered place of care for children. Children’s homes can claim a monthly subsidy from the government to cover the running costs of their homes. The subsidy awarded varies and is based on the running costs of the home and the number of children accommodated.

Child Protection Services

Child Protection Services refers to the protection of a child up to the age of 18 in need of care

Adoptions

Adoption is the placement of a child in the permanent care of a person who is not their biological parent or permanent guardian. Adoption provides a permanent or stable family life for children who would otherwise be deprived of one.
Inter country adoption is when a child is adopted by a person or persons from another country.
Prescriptions regarding the overall adoption service apply to the Children’s Court, adoption agencies and adoptive parents. Prescriptions regarding the inter-country adoption service apply to local and foreign clients who make enquiries, accredited adoption agencies and central authorities of other countries

Applying For Maintanance

Maintenance - providing another person, for example a minor, with housing, food, clothing, education and medical care, or with the means to provide these essentials

Services To The Youth

The Department provides some services directly but also funds Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) and Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) who offers a range of services to youth, including:

  1. Treatment of substance abuse
  2. Life skills training and personal development
  3. Counselling
  4. Technical skills training
  5. HIV/AIDS Counselling
  6. Legal & Court services
  7. Programme or youth in conflict with the law

Funding For Non Profit Ogarnizations (NPOS)

The Provincial Department of Social Development assists non-profit organizations (NPOs) with funding while the National Department of Social Development ensures that all NPOs are registered.

Services To Women and Gender Issues

The Department provides funding and support to organizations that work with Women and Gender issues. These organizations offer a range of services including:

  1. Shelters for Abused Women
  2. Victim empowerment
  3. Counselling to abused women and their children/families
  4. Skills training and development
  5. Referrals to legal and medical services
  6. HIV/AIDS Counselling
  7. Personal Development

Who Qualifies

  1. Organizations that want to set up:
    • Any building or premises used for the reception, protection and temporary care of more than six children – between the ages of 8 months and 18 years -in especially difficult circumstances
    • A non-residential place of care for children on the street to meet their basic physical, emotional and social need

Training Of Non Profit Organizations (NPOS)

Who Qualifies
NGOs / CBOs / FBOs that provide support to the communities through Community Home-based Care projects as well as to children and families infected and affected by HIV/Aids.
