The 2014 Golden games in the Limpopo Province was commemorated on 11 July 2014 in Mopani District, Maruleng Local Municipality at Finale village – Shinning sports ground. The event was graced by Executive Management of the Department of Social Development led by the MEC: Mme Happy Joyce Mashamba, the official from the Chief Directorate: Population and Development from the national Department of Social Development, the officials from Mopani District Municipality and Maruleng Municipality, the officials from SASSA, NDA, StatsSA, and Kgoshi Mametja accompanied by headmen from neighboring villages.

MEC for the Department of Social Development – Mme Happy Joyce Mashamba gave a key note address to the community mainly youth. In her speech the Mec encouraged the youth to say NO to drugs and strive for perfection by furthering their studies or opt for self-employment. The MEC Mme Mashamba also handed over 100 PVC mattresses to two crèches in Finale village during that day.
