In 1995 the Casual Day project was launched by the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa (NCPPDSA).

Now its 18th year, the project has long and respected history of fundraising and increasing awareness of persons with disabilities. The Casual Day encourages the public to contribute financially through a donation of R10 for a sticker, and creates opportunity for the full integration of persons with disabilities into mainstream society. The above-mentioned project held every on the first Friday of September. This initiative is to encourage all South Africans, including Government employees, to dress differently.

The participants put on a Casual Day Sticker, T-Shirt and Cap to show support to persons with disabilities. The Casual Day is South Africa’s foremost fundraising event of this nature and raises more than just money, providing opportunities for corporate comradeship, community support and NGO participation.
